On its 2008 full-length studio album, CHAPTER VII: HOPE AND SORROW, the Atlanta, Georgia-based heavy-rock act Sevendust invites a number of high-profile guests to stop by. While super-serious AMERICAN IDOL alum Chris Daughtry lends an extra dose of melancholy to “The Past,” members of Alter Bridge also contribute to key tracks on HOPE & SORROW, with guitarist Mark Tremonti (formerly of Creed) appearing on the angst-ridden “Hope” and singer Myles Kennedy featured on the pensive “Sorrow.” Of course, Sevendust’s own dynamic vocalist, Lajon Witherspoon, can more than hold his own, as best revealed on the powerful nu-metal anthem “Prodigal Son.”
